   FEATURE….

Wrap Your Eyes Around A Piece of Nostalgia as you drive in the Houston Area… Allan and Reba Kingsbury go Cruisin at least once a week in their '39 Chevrolet 1/2 Ton Pickup.  This Rod has won much recognition….including a first place in the Autorama.

Allan, Director of Automotive Technology at Humble High School for the last 17 years, has his ASE Master Certification in Automotive (8 areas), as well as Master Paint and Body and Master Heavy Trucks.  Due to his knowledge, he was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 1989.  He began this truck project about ten years ago to spark the interests of young people who might want into his program.  Throughout the years, many students played some part in re-creating the truck.

Hot Rods today are built fast, but not always safe.  Allan's goal is to teach students that safety comes first.  If you build a fast vehicle, you should also have anti-lock brakes, for example.  This truck boasts 355 Cubic Inch displacement, 400 Horsepower, 5-Speed Overdrive, Standard Transmission, 4-Wheel Anti Lock Brakes, Hydro Boost Assist, Short-Long Arm Front Suspension, Composite Leaf Spring in Rear with 3:42 Gear.  It is topped off with a Base Coat/ Clear Coat paint job in Bahama Blue with Chameleon Flames created from House of Kolors Paint--red/blue Kamelon.

Wood was a big part of vehicles from the past, and this truck is no exception. Red Oak was used to line the truck bed, accent the running boards, fill the bed, line the rails, trim the inside doors, and surround the dash.  Wood, Steel, and ingenuity came together to create this blast from the past !   So as you cruise the Houston Area on a Saturday night, don't be surprised I you see an illuminated bikini hood draw your attention to the '39 Chev truck …… and as it passes you, you'll hear those "Oldies but Goodies"…...
